New addition to the Taylor Home

Eric and I have an announcement to make.....

We are getting a kitten!  Haha, I had you going didn't I! ;)  No, we aren't having a baby, not for awhile yet.  But we are getting a kitten!!!!  Even if you don't like cats, you will at least admit that our kitten is adorable!!!!!  Haha  We have wanted to get a cat for a long time.  Eric is allergic to dogs (all except for dachshunds, which is a big blessing! Mostly because my parents own a dachshund and someday I would love to have one... ) and is more of a cat person anyways.  Thanks to a lucky turn of events, we will have a new kitten by the end of this month.

Tell me this picture doesn't melt your heart just a little bit!!!

Our kitten will be named Lucy.  We were thinking about getting a companion kitten,
but apparently she was too wild and scratchy!

So here's to another grand adventure in the Taylor home!!!!!

Easter Eggs!!!!!

This week is my siblings spring break. Megan decided to go to St. George with her friend and Bryan decided to stay home, chill with the parents, and play with Daniel Mickelson. One of the things my wonderful Mom decided to do to entertain the boys was to dye easter eggs! She bought 5 dozen eggs (I know that seems like a lot....but it's never enough!!!) and invited Eric and I over to help dye them.

Now you have to understand our redneck family tradition to understand why 5 dozen eggs is never enough. We live in Logan, Utah and every year at Easter time, there is a tradition (not just our family's tradition) to roll easter eggs down Old Main Hill. Soooooo redneck and soooooo much fun!!!! I'll post pictures from this years eggs rolling adventures!!!

So in preparation for this wildly fun tradition, Eric and I went over to my parents house to dye eggs. Eric was skeptical, he said he hadn't dyed eggs for a long time, and I'm sure he thought it was more of a children's activity. But he quickly got into the spirit of it all and before we knew it we had a whole collection of..... BATMAN EGGS!

Now, if you don't know a lot about Batman, let me name the characters for you, starting from the top left. Batman, Robin, Nightwing (who is Robin all grown up), Joker, and Two-Face. Then starting on the next row on the left: Mr. Freeze, The Riddler, Penguin, Killer Croc, and last of all Poison Ivy.

I love my husband sooooo much!!! We both had a ton of fun creating Batman easter eggs. We both got a kick out of how good they turned out! My favorite is Two-Face!

Just starting the process

Our first dozen or so eggs

This was an egg of my creation. My wedding colors :) I was pretty proud of myself
(if you don't mind me bragging a bit lol)

Eric and I

This month we hit 9 months married!!!! Time has flown by so fast and I've loved every second of it!!! I have a ton more things I want to blog about, but that will have to wait until I tidy up the house a bit and take pictures.... and yes, I said house!!!! :D

Winter Wanderings

February is almost over!!!! It's been a very eventful month, hardly a day hasn't been packed full of things to do. One of the best days this month was, of course, Valentines Day! Haha I have always called this holiday "Single's Awareness Day", but not this year :) This was mine and Eric's first Valentines together. Last year I left Cody, WY on the 13th, so we missed it by one day. But this year we got to spend all day together!

We slept in, had a great breakfast, went to the theater and saw Star Wars Episode 1 in 3D, went on a lovely nature walk up Logan Canyon, and then came home and made "Juicy Lucy's" for dinner. Juicy Lucy's are basically hamburgers with the cheese in the middle of the burger instead of on top. Last year we bought a little grill to use and this is the first time we've used it. Some assembly was required (Eric's a great handy man, and he basically did it without instructions because they were.... difficult to understand...). But the burgers turned out fantastic! I had a little mild cheddar in my burger and Eric put some stinky blue cheese in his. Lol

Valentines Day Dinner

Eric cooking up the burgers :)
Isn't he so handsome???!!!

I found Eric a really cool Batman hat for Valentines Day!
Unorthodox I know, but he loved it all the same :)

One other crazy thing that happened this February was.... cross-stitching! Haha One night Eric and I were looking at an Egyptian cross-stitch I had made for him while he was on his mission and Eric mentioned that he had always had a secret desire to learn how to cross-stitch. Well, he married the right woman! :) The next day we went to Michael's and found a cross-stitch he wanted to try. So far he's enjoying it a lot!! He may get teased for it sometimes, but he doesn't mind and he's making great progress!

My sexy cross-stitching husband!!!!

Here is his progress as of several weeks ago. I need to get an updated picture!

Well, life is great! We are moving in just over a week and then shortly afterwards we are going to California for Spring Break!!!!!!

Moving in March!!!

Yes, that's right. Eric and I will be moving out of our cute apartment this March. Yes, I'll miss this apartment that we call home, but we be moving to a new home. Literally. Eric's parents decided to buy a house in Logan, both as an investment and as a place to stay when the come to visit their children (all of which currently live in Logan or Perry). After much searching and deliberation, they picked a house in Logan, not too far from where we live now. And they asked us to house sit for them!!! :) So come the end of March, we will be moving to a beautiful house! Crazy! (and yes, Eric and I feel immensely spoiled). Here is a sneak peek at what our future residence will look like!!!!

We have been blessed so greatly in our lives and are humbled each time a new opportunity presents itself. We both have amazing parents who have taught and led us by example to live the principles of the gospel and to always recognize the Lord in our life. We look forward to each new day and the challenges that confront us and the chances we get to strengthen our faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.

2011!!!!!!!

So I'm going to steal this idea from a cousin-in-law of mine and I'm going to do a review of last year! :) I guess since I was terrible about updating my last blog this will be a good way of reminding myself how amazing last year was!!!!!!!

January:

This was probably the hardest month of last year. It was the beginning of my second semester of nursing school, I had one more month l
eft in the purgatory that is better known as waiting for a missionary, and lets face it, January is a just a boring month anyways! But I endured to the end. I did most of my nursing assignments and presentations in January so that I could spend as much time as possible with Eric when he came home. That about sums up my January.... everything was done in preparation for the next whirlwind months! :)

February:

That blessed day finally came!!!!!! Eric came home from his mission on February 9th and I flew up to Cody, WY to reunite with him 3 days later! This is the picture of our first meeting! I wasn't nervous to meet him until the plane started it's approach to the runway. Suddenly, I realized that this was it. Would my two years have been wasted? Would he still like me? Would it be awkward? How fast would he move? All of these questions started swirling in my head when the plane landed. I had a few minutes to put myself together and the steps off the plane were lowered and I was walking into the airport. Thinking about how nervous I was still makes my stomach tingle!

But all that worrying was for nothing! I walked through the doors and there he was, as if I hadn't had to wait two whole years to even hear his voice. It was the most natural thing to do to run up to him and give him a hug! But things got even better! After hugging for a couple of seconds, Eric leaned back, and....... he kissed me! All of my questions were immediately answered! He still loved me, my two years weren't wasted, and things were looking good for our future. Amazing what a few seconds can do. ;)

Well, the rest of February passed in a blur. My parent made a surprise trip up to Cody to go to Eric's mission report, I flew back home after a couple days in Cody, Eric came down for my birthday, nightly phone calls, stinky good-byes, and much more. Then came

March!!!

March was also a very amazing month. Eric's parents had graciously and amazingly invited me to go on their family vacation to Hawaii over Spring Break!!!! I didn't have to think too hard about whether or not to accept this offer. So March comes around and off we go to Hawaii!!

The beach right in front of our condo's!!!!!! Gorgeous!!!

An amazing Hawaiian sunset!

Of course the most exciting thing to happen while in Hawaii was that Eric and I got engaged!!!!!
He did it at a romantic restaurant, over-looking the beach, at sunset. Yes, he has earned his brownie points for life!

The temporary ring and the ring box

The kiss afterwards :)

I said yes!

The above pictures were taken by the restaurants photographer after she found out we were engaged. She had taken this picture

and was giving it to us before we left, when she saw the ring on my finger and the ring box. She immediately took us out by the beach to had us re-create the moment while she took pictures. She then proceeded to offer to marry us on the beach in a couple months. Lol We thanked her politely and refused her offer but thanked her for the pictures. After we left Hawaii, Eric and I parted ways again for another couple months. We saw each other here and there for a couple days of each month, but the majority of the time we were separated and had to resort to nightly phone calls. :( But we did manage to have a few fun adventures :)

Eric took a liking to bow-ties on his mission :)

This was a 4-wheeling outing that Eric took with his Dad in April. Isn't he so handsome!

Eric shooting his gun for the first time since he got it 2 years ago

In April Eric came down to visit and we got killer tickets to watch General Conference

We bought both mine and Eric's rings while he was down. His ring has granite inlaid into the band. We liked the symbolism of it. He served his mission in Fresno, CA which included Yosemite National Park. Yosemite has the most granite of any national park! Also, the thought of being rock solid in our marriage seemed pretty cool. And Eric liked the "gray" color ;) Eric's color-blind, and I may have teased him a little bit about that.... Later on I had his ring engraved on the inside saying "EFY 04- Eternity"

My gorgeous ring! Eric's mom has connections and got a really go deal on the center diamond. I'm usually not a bragger, but I will brag about my ring. It's beautiful. Lol

A hike Eric and I went on in April

Eric took me to a Dinosaur Museum while I was up in Cody during May

Huge fish!!!

Eric's new ride! He's already put 12,000 miles on it because he drove down to Utah as often as he could to visit me!!! What a sweetie!!!

Just a couple days before we got married we went to the Cache Valley Car Show, and guess what car made a special appearance.... The Batmobile!

So basically April-June we endured to the end. At the end of June Eric moved down to Utah into our apartment!

A corner of our bedroom

Eric and my dad worked on this island to give us more kitchen space

Andrew was helping Eric move in and a friendly neighbor cat decided he wanted to move in too. Luckily Andrew caught him before he made it under the bed. Lol

Our "Kitty" picture :)

The kitchen in progress. Everything that looks like dirty dishes are shower gifts that were looking for a home. Lol

I've decided to have two posts for 2011, cause this is a huge post already and I've only gotten to June! I will post again about the rest of my year starting with my wedding!!!!!
